As the business of international student recruitment intensifies, Netherlands-based education search site Studyportals has announced a partnership with THE, the media platform keen to expand its services for its student-based traffic.

"We are expecting this partnership to yield an additional 1-2 million students"

The two companies have announced they will create a seamless experience to direct THE’s student visitors to the Studyportals platform whenever they require more information about courses run by universities that THE ranks – it is best known for its World University Rankings.

“We are expecting this partnership to yield an additional 1-2 million students to start their education choice with us,” Edwin van Rest, CEO of Studyportals, told The PIE News.

“We know that like us THE are strong in our segment of ‘high flier’ students who are well prepared academically and have financial means, and the overlap between our audiences today is still little.”

Paul Howarth, CEO of UK-based THE, said the company’s desire to support students across their journey into international study “is given another major boost through our partnership with Studyportals”.

THE, which was acquired by private equity Inflexion in February 2019, has made a series of partnerships designed to support its student-driven mission. These include SI-UK and accommodation placement business Casita.

Van Rest told The PIE, “Like us, THE reaches students early in the discovery phase when they are still open to considering new/the right options.

“We have developed the capability for transparent, best-fit matching but also to follow and support the students in their decision-making journey from discovery to shortlist to application to making a final choice and then on to enrolment, their study experience and their first job.”
