“I wanted to pass Studio Cambridge on to new owners with a passion for education, an international vision, and an appreciation of how EFL can fit into the wider aspiration of international understanding and co-operation,” he said.

The school in Cambridge was established in 1954, and has a year-round school for adults and young learners in Cambridge.

Roberts joined the school as a teacher in 1972, added that he believed that with Full Circle they had found the right buyers, a view reinforced by Danny Wang, managing director of Full Circle.

“We are immensely privileged to be the new owners of Studio Cambridge, one of the most respected names in the UK English Language Teaching business,” Wang explained.

Full Circle also owns Shenzhen Shiyan International School, boarding school St Bees School in Cumbria in the UK, London EFL school Princes College, and charity Adventurous Global Schools.

“We want to assure everyone that it is ‘business as usual’ at Studio and that all current plans, agent relationships and contracts will continue. Looking to the future, we plan to build on Studio’s success, excellent reputation and strong brand and to complement this with our own history, skills and vision for the future.”

In addition, Studio Cambridge has seven high-quality summer centres at various locations in southern England, including the American International University in Richmond-upon-Thames Leighton Park School in Reading and Hockerill Anglo-European College in Bishop’s Stortford.

Its permanent staff of 50 are joined by 250 to help run the summer courses.
